Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do is the “umbrella” under which all the following systems fall under. JKD is Lee’s philosophy and concepts-based approach to combat. Lee developed a way to end a fight that was simple, direct, and economical. JKD was the result of pains-taking research and development of hundreds of different martial arts by Bruce Lee and Dan Inosanto. They chose the arts which worked for JKD, and discarded those that didn’t. Lee intended JKD to be an art that was supposed to evolve and grow with the times, not remain in its “original” state. That is why Dan Inosanto, the leader of JKD, has since added Filipino Kali, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Maphilindo Silat, Savate, Shoot Wrestling, among others, to the vast JKD curriculum. This need for constant evolution in JKD is what separates it from the traditional systems.. |

Western Boxing: JKD incorporates a strong Boxing foundation. Jabs, crosses, hooks, uppercuts, and overhands are an integral part of JKD. Footwork and evasions, such as slips, bob and weaves, ducking and rolling, the rear hand catch/parry, and Broken Rhythm, is what makes JKD a Boxing-based art. |

Wing Chun: This close-range art is used in JKD to develop Trapping, Tactile Sensitivity, Economy of Motion, Forward Pressure, and Centerline awareness. At the Academy, we teach Complex Trapping, the Wooden Dummy (Mook Jong), the Siu Lum Tao, the Ung Moon Form, and Bruce Lee’s Wooden Dummy Forms. |

Muay Thai: Bruce Lee admired the powerful leg drive in Muay Thai, so he incorporated the Thai Round Kick, Low Thigh Kick, Elbows, Knees, and the Plum Position. Shin, elbow, and knee conditioning is also a part of JKD. We use Thai Pads, Heavy Bags, Focus Mitts, along with complex drills to develop powerful Muay Thai. |

Jun Fan Grappling Arts: At the Academy we teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, and Filipino Dumog. We train students how to move comfortably on the ground, learn the different ground positions, and be able to defend and attack from the ground, as well as find counters and escapes from any grappling situation. |
