"In early February 2010 in Oakland , I experienced a situation that could have ended terribly. It was late at night and I needed gas. Unfortunately, my only resort was to go to a gas station that was not at the best location. When I was about to pay at the machine, there was a man who came up to me and wanted money, but something inside me alerted me that this situation was very wrong. My training at the school immediately revealed itself. I warned him to not take any step closer which took him by surprise. He insisted that he wasn’t going to rob me but I did not buy any of it. As he was distracting me, I was aware enough to notice that he was only a decoy and that the real threat was a green car with two men who drove around me and then behind me. That was the time to leave in which I did without any hesitation. If I did not receive the learning I have had at the academy, I would have panicked and would not have the wits enough to be aware of what was happening and how to escape the situation.

One of the most important questions you can ask yourself is: "Does this work in a real situation?" That question is answered when tested in class with sparring and partner drills. We learn not only the effective applications, but also hone our attitudes and minds so we're not paralyzed with fear if confronted on the street. We train our attributes constantly with workouts designed to increase our dexterity, power, efficiency, reflexes and awareness. One of the best things is, you get a printed curriculum to study. I've studied at other schools and never received one piece of written information. With the curriculum in hand, you can focus on your studies. The school's energy is fantastic. People want to help you learn, and you'll see lots of smiling faces and feel great about yourself. It's truly a special place that you can look forward to training in every week."
